DUNCAN Ferguson knows Inverness have to put their scoring troubles behind them in order to avoid the relegation play-off after the end of the regular season.

The club’s 1-0 defeat to Raith Rovers last Friday, saw Inverness hit the woodwork four times as they failed to fire the target.

Only Arbroath have scored less goals than Inverness in the Championship as they have only found the net 37 times in their 34 games so far.

However, Inverness have the second best defensive record in the league, only conceding 38 goals, with Dundee United the only team to have conceded less.

Target two wins in their final two games to ensure safety, Ferguson says his players know they have to find the net to avoid their Championship status being in jeopardy after the regular season and being forced into a play-off.

He said: “"We have two massive games and it's crucial we score goals.

"Not scoring enough goals is what has been hurting us a bit.

"We have a fantastic defensive record and a fantastic away record. We have scored goals on the road.

"Our away form has been exceptional. I have lost just three games away from home in seven months. We have one more away game, so we're positive.

"We're in good form and we will go for it.”

All three matches between Dunfermline and Inverness have been draws this season with the Pars only needing one point to ensure to secure safety.

Inverness have had a good record away from home this season, finding six of their nine wins in the Championship on the road.

Ferguson says they need another good performance to ensure Dunfermline is their final trip away from Inverness this season.

"I have had two draws against Dunfermline and the previous regime drew once. That was the one point I inherited when I came in.

"It will be another close game. Hopefully we come on the side of winning, because we need to win. We cannot put it in anybody else's hands.

"When we lost on Friday, it went into Queen's Park's hands, but it is back in our own hands because Queen's Park failed to beat Dunfermline.

"If we win our last two games, we stay up. That is all we're focusing on.
