Since breaking into the first team squad in 2018, the 20-year-old has seen the likes of St Mirren, Ross County, Dundee United and Hearts last season experience the joy of winning the league title.

The midfielder says he has looked on in envy at the success other teams have experienced in the league and is determined to know what that feeling is like with Inverness Caledonian Thistle this season and achieve promotion to the top flight.

“You see teams winning the league and you think what an achievement it must be to go the whole season being the best team,” says MacGregor.

“But it will come down to the wire this season, you see how tight the top of the league is right now and I’m sure it will be like that until the end.

“We need to do our best to wrack up as many points as we can and I’m sure we will be there at the end of the season.

“You want to win stuff in your career and leagues are the most important as it shows you are the most consistent throughout the season.

“We are taking one game at a time and do our best to get up that table.”

Caley Thistle will look to win their first game in five matches as they head to East End Park to face Dunfermline Athletic tomorrow.

Inverness have failed to win a match since their 6–1 demolition of Greenock Morton in December and have drawn their last three matches.

However, Inverness are still second in the table and only four points off leaders Arbroath with a game in hand, with other teams in the top five failing to take advantage.

MacGregor says the fact nobody is running away at the top shows how competitive this season has been.

“It says a lot about the teams in the Championship, everyone can beat everyone as we know and it shows there is no easy games which we knew already.

“But it is games like that we are trying to turn into three points instead of one.

“Every game we target three points, in this league we know on our day if we work hard and do the right things we are capable of winning most games.

“It is no different on Saturday, we are hoping to go down there and get three points.”
