JOHN Robertson says if clubs want to take away his players from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in January, they will need to do it seven days before the transfer window closes.

The manager says the club will not be put in a position where they are scrambling to look for replacements in the last week of the transfer window.

At the time of going to press, defenders Coll Donaldson and Shaun Rooney, subject of pre-contract moves to Ross County and Dundee respectively, were still Inverness players.

Defender Jamie McCart is reported to be a target for St Johnstone and Partick Thistle with Robertson saying two other players have received interest.

Robertson says with players out of contract at the end of the season they have offered permission to other clubs to talk to players.

But if they want his players this month, they will need to offer a deal at least one week before the window closes on Friday, January 31.

“I have spoken to chief executive Scot Gardiner about any teams that are interested in our players,” he said.

“If they have not made a deal before the last week, then our players will not be going anywhere.

“We will not be caught with somebody going on the last day of the transfer window with no chance to replace them.”
