INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle Women manager Karen Mason says her team should believe they can go all the way in the Scottish Championship Cup after beating holders Dryburgh Athletic 2-0 to reach the semi final of the competition.

Natalie Bodiam scored and an own goal helped Inverness to victory in Dundee and reach the last four of the competition.

Inverness will find out their semi final opponents when the draw is expected to take place later this week, but no date had been fixed at the time of going to press.

Manager Karen Mason says it was an outstanding performance from Inverness last weekend.

She says her team should hold no fear about going all the way and lifting the trophy.

“We have managed to knock out the holders and having played them previously we knew that it was going to be a tough encounter,” she said.

“The team improved in the second half and we came away more confident after the win.

“There is nothing to say that we can’t win the cup.

“All the teams that are left we know we can beat.

“I wouldn’t say that we are bigging up our chances massively.

“But we are in the draw and we will take it one game at a time.

“However, it is something that we want to try and achieve.”
Inverness Caledonian Thistle return to Championship action when they face Dryburgh Athletic at Millburn Academy on Sunday at 12:30pm.

Caley Thistle are in fifth place in the table and will be taking on bottom of the table Dryburgh who have failed to win a match so far this season. Mason says her team will have to be wary of their opponents looking for revenge.

“They are sitting at the bottom of the table with four draws and four losses,” she said.

“They will be looking for redemption and gunning for us for knocking them out of the cup.”
