HEAD coach Billy Dodds is urging his players to secure their place in the play-offs tonight by beating league leaders Kilmarnock at the Caledonian Stadium.

Inverness can secure a top-four finish with victory in Friday night’s game and keep their hopes of promotion to the Premiership alive.

Caley Thistle are seven points ahead of Raith Rovers in fifth place, with the Kirkcaldy outfit only having three matches remaining.

A win against Killie would put Inverness out of reach of Raith, allowing them to concentrate on position in the play-offs in their final three games.

Dodds was critical of his squad last weekend when they threw away a two-goal lead to settle for a point against Ayr United in a 2–2 draw.

Now he is calling on his players to show their ruthlessness on the pitch by beating Kilmarnock for a third time this season.

Asked if the play-offs were already secure for Inverness, Dodds said: “Absolutely not.

“Raith Rovers can win all three, and I know it will be hard, but I can’t wait until we have secured it.

“We are not there, and can’t take it for granted with the way the league has been all season.

“But we are in a good position.

“It is ours to throw away. Just get the job done, I want us to be ruthless.

“I want us to get it secured and momentum into the play-offs, as on a one-off basis, we are capable of beating anyone.”

Kilmarnock are favourites to win the Championship, but Dodds is confident he knows how to get the better of them tonight.

“Best form of defence is attack, but you don’t want to go gung ho because Killie have players that can hurt us. But we will be on the front foot. Against Ayr, when we came off the game, they caused us trouble. If we do that with Kilmarnock, they will cause us trouble. “
