The Scottish Championship match between Hamilton Academical and Inverness Caledonian Thistle has been postponed due to a frozen pitch at the ZLX Stadium.

Match referee Colin Steven has postponed this afternoon’s match due to the right hand penalty area being frozen underfoot and ruled it unsafe for players. A new date will be announced in due course.

Hamilton released a statement saying the area of concern on the pitch, despite being heavily salted throughout the week, was also in the shade and sub zero all week.

Yesterday, rain fell onto frozen undersurface and players training at Hamilton yesterday reported it as unsteady.

They said the referee felt that area was noticeably different and unsafe and called the game off.

All matches in the Highland League and North Caledonian League scheduled for today were called off yesterday afternoon.

The Scottish Premiership match between Ross County and St Johnstone is still scheduled to go ahead today.
