WALLACE Duffy rates Raith Rovers as the best team Inverness Caledonian Thistle have faced this season, and their mid-table position shows how tough the Championship title race is going to be.

Inverness defeated Raith Rovers 2–0 in Kirkcaldy earlier this month to kick-start their campaign and move to fourth place in the table.

Raith Rovers are in sixth place in the league, having lost four of their first seven matches.

But Duffy says their match at Stark’s Park was the toughest they have played this season. He says the fact a team like Raith Rovers are sixth shows how competitive the league is.

“I know we won 2–0, but the way Raith played football and the attacking quality they had made it tough to deal with,” he said.

“But the table is not showing they are right at the top at the moment, but after a couple of good results they could be back up there.

“But for me, Raith are the best team we have faced this season.”

Duffy’s time at Inverness has been hit by injury.

But apart from being forced to sit out for a short period after a head injury at Arbroath, he feels he is back to full fitness and can play a big part in Caley Thistle’s title challenge.

“I have not had any injuries, apart from a head knock against Arbroath and with the guidelines I had to stay out which was unfortunate.

“But I am playing alright, I can play better, but I am happy with the way things are going so far.”

Caley Thistle will look for their third league win in a row when they head to Somerset Park to take on Ayr.

Duffy says closing the gap at the top and potentially moving into pole position in the league will drive the team on.

“That is the incentive, beating one of the top teams in the league and having a chance of first place. Winning three away games on the trot, it doesn’t get better than that.”
