CALEY Thistle have completed the signing of former Newport County striker Scott Boden on a three-year deal.

Richie Foran made his first signing as boss on Thursday afternoon, luring Boden to the Highlands to fill a gap at striker.

Boden hit 15 goals in all competitions for the English League Two side last season as they avoided relegation to The National League.

The 26-year-old has also played for Chesterfield, Macclesfield and FC Halifax Town, after starting his career at Sheffield United.

He will be expected to fill the void left by Miles Storey, who decided against extending his loan stay at Caley Thistle to join Premiership rivals Aberdeen.

Foran said Boden would be a great addition to the squad and that work was ongoing to bring in other targets.

"He plays in a position which we were keen to fill and he’ll fit right in here both as a player and with his personality," he added.

Boden said: “I’m happy to have got everything over the line and I’m now buzzing to get going.

“I’ve had a bit of a look around Inverness and it’s lovely. You only have to speak to a few people as well to realise the people match the place. I look forward to living and playing here.”

Boden has two trophy successes in his career - he won League Two with Chesterfield in 2011 and followed that up with the Football League Trophy a year later.

He joins Alex Fisher as the two senior strikers at the club.
