NEW Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran is targeting at least three new players before the start of the season.

Speaking at his unveiling this afternoon at the Caledonian Stadium, Foran hopes Scott Boden and Jake Mulraney are not the only additions to his side this summer.

Offers are on the table for several targets and Foran was coy on what areas he wanted to strengthen. However, he stated there would be a marked change in the club's style of play and intends to instill a win-at-all-costs mentality in his players.

Foran replaced the departed John Hughes at the end of last month and has retained Brian Rice as his assistant manager, as well as coaches Scott Kellacher and Duncan Shearer.

With the core of a good squad in place, any new arrivals will have a battle to make their name in the first-team.

“We're looking to take in another three or four – we've got a few offers out there and we're excited about them,” said Foran. “It's too early to name names but offers are out there. Hopefully over the next two or three days we'll have some feedback on that.

“We've got the nucleus of a fantastic squad and I want lads that will come in and challenging for the starting 11. I expect to have them in for the first league game.”

The former club skipper was the unanimous choice of the board, according to chairman Kenny Cameron, and insists he is more than happy with the financial side of the club. Hughes made frequent complaints about the size of the budget and attracting players, something which Foran has yet to have any concerns with.

He stressed that the transition from player to manager will not be a difficult one for him to make, given that he has spent a lot of the past two years out injured.

“One message I got from an ex-manager was “welcome to the asylum” which put a smile on my face! But I'm sure it's not as bad as that,” he said. “I'm sure we'll have challenging times but with the squad, chairman and board behind me I'm sure we'll have a good season.

“I've been distancing myself over the last few years and you could say I've been retired a couple of years now. The main thing is the boys respect me and that won't be a problem.

“I'm looking at the first league game of the season – no further than that. I won't be setting any targets just yet. I might take another look at it after a quarter of the season.

“Our style is going to change a little bit. My philosophy is win at all costs – yes you want to play attractive football and play out from the back, but when you get into the opposition half, I want to go out and attack. I want crosses into the box, shots on goal and fans up and down out of their seats.”
