Inverness made two changes to the team that scraped past Clyde in the Scottish Challenge Cup quarter final.

David Carson and Kevin McHattie came into midfield to replace James Vincent and Mitch Curry.

Caley Thistle took the lead after 16 minutes asCarson charged into the box and passed the ball across the face of goal to find Doran who scored from a tight angle.

Paul McGowan had a shot which was blocked by McKay with Sean Mackie latching on to the rebound forcing a good save from Mark Ridgers.

Dundee put on the pressure in the closing minutes of the first half when Inverness defender Coll Donaldson had to put in a last ditch challenge to deny Kane Hemmings scoring from eight yards.

Jamie McCart then almost nodded the ball into his own net attempting to clear a cross into the box.

But captain Tremarco managed to head the ball off the line to maintain their lead.

Aaron Doran had a chance midway through the second half when he beat the offside trap with only the goalkeeper to beat. But attempting to run around Connor Hazard, the goalkeeper managed to snatch the ball from his feet.

Dundee had a golden chance to level nine minutes from time when Danny Johnson was unchallenged in the six yard box when he latched on to Josh Todd’s cross but fired wide of the left post.

Inverness held on to pick up all three points and move one point behind Ayr United who are in second place.
