Brown wins Five Day Open title at Nairn Dunbar

Brown’s solid putting was the difference between the pair as Tomisson’s showing with the short stick was below his best.

Brown had earlier disposed of 2009 champion Craig Neilson, of La Moye, by 3 and 2, while Tomisson eased past Nigg Bay’s Gordon Grimmer 2 and 1.

Results were (Nairn Dunbar unless otherwise stated): Scratch — Semi-finals: Gordon Grimmer (Nigg Bay) lost to Patrick Tomisson (Nairn) 2 and 1; Freddie Brown beat Craig Neilson (La Moye) 3 and 2. Final: Tomisson lost to Brown 3 and 1.

Low Handicap — Semi-finals: Adrian Trim (West Wilts) (5) lost to Steven Killoh (Oldmeldrum) (9) 3 and 1; Willie Harvey (8) lost to John Banks (Shrewsbury) (8) two holes. Final: Killoh lost to Banks 3 and 1.

High Handicap — Semi Finals: Tim Brown (Dunstan) (15) beat Brian Orrock (18) at 19th; David Black (Dunfermline) (12) beat Sam Snape (Worfield) (17) 3 and 2. Final: Brown beat Black 3 and 1.

Lee Manderson, from Dunns Golf Club, got a hole in one at Nairn Dunbar last Wednesday on the third (189 yards) using a four iron. His partner was Peter Laidlaw.
