Brora too hot for Clach

CLACH had no answer against a rampant Brora Rangers side on Wednesday night as they crashed to a 3-0 Highland League loss at Dudgeon Park.

The Lilywhites, still hurt from their dramatic 13-12 penalty shoot-out defeat to Huntly in the weekend’s Fosters Cup tie, were a goal behind at Brora after just one minute.

Liam Baxter’s corner was met by a powerful header from Gary Kerr to give the hosts the lead.

A freak goal put Brora two ahead when Danny Mackay, from his own half, fired a loose ball into Clach’s penalty box and it caught out keeper David Harrison, who could not stop it hitting the net.

A defensive mix-up on 66 minutes allowed Liam Baxter to nip in and finish off the a scoring on a night to forget for the Inverness side.

Forres Mechanics won their derby match 2-1 against Nairn County at Station Park.

Quickfire goals from Nathan Sharp and Ross McPherson late in the first half had Nairn chasing the game.

A wonder strike from Dale Gillespie after the break have the hosts hope, but despite their pressure, the Can Cans defended well to earn the points.

Fort William now only have Strathspey Thistle in sights in terms of their bid to get off the bottom of the table after their 3-1 home reversal against Rothes.

Fort started well and Graham Bamber hit the post early on from an Iain Maclellan corner.

Against the run of play, Rothes grabbed the advantage when Franny More raced through an slotted the ball past keeper John Campbell.

This was a real sucker-punch for the Lochaber side and the visitors grabbed second half goals through Stuart Massie and Michael Fletcher.

Sub Sean Ellis scored a late consolation goal for Fort, who host Brora Rangers this weekend.

Strathspey are just one point ahead of Fort after their midweek 6-1 home trouncing by Deveronvale.

At the upper half of the table, Keith leapt back to top spot with a hard-fought 3-2 home victory against Lossiemouth, while Turriff United and Inverurie Locos drew 1-1.
