Billy Dodds admitted Inverness Caledonian Thistle rode their luck at times on the way to a 1–1 draw against Dundee, capping off a “difficult week” for the side.

Going to Dens Park off the back of two losses in-a-row against Hamilton, the pressure was on Inverness to get a positive result.

Zach Robinson was downed inside the ICT penalty area by Danny Devine, with the striker stepping up himself to convert the spot kick and give Dundee a lead in the 13th minute.

Dodds wanted his players to be braver on the ball after the restart, and on one such occasion Cameron Harper’s shot took a deflection on its way into the net, bringing the scores level.

From there, Dundee pushed hard for a winner, but Dodds was pleased with the spirit that his players showed to hold on – and that a slice of luck had finally gone Caley Thistle’s way this season.

“I’m happy with a point,” Dodds told ICT’s website.

“It’s been a difficult week, two defeats in two games can sap the energy out of you but somehow we kept going. It wasn’t our best performance – we passed so well midweek but today wasn’t a pitch to do that.

“I know the boys will dig in, it’s just about doing the right things at times.

“When we scored I thought we might go on and win it, then Dundee put us under a bit of pressure.

“They had a goal disallowed that looked onside, and they hit the bar twice, so we had a bit of luck today that we haven’t had all season.

“I said to the boys at half time that I felt we were playing within ourselves, and in front of Dundee at times.

“I wanted my flair players to go and attack people and commit.

“Jay Henderson was good in the first half, but at half time I asked somebody to go and do something – hit a strike, take a shot, do something that’s going to give us a lift.

“Cameron hits the shot, and it ends up in the back of the net.”
