INVERNESS head coach Billy Dodds says Robbie Deas is still getting his head around the leg break which has ruled him out of action.

But it is hoped that the defender will be able to return to action at some point this season.

Dodds confirmed Deas suffered a clean break in the closing stages of the 1-1 draw against Raith Rovers last weekend.

The 22-year-old is now receiving treatment, with a timescale of how long he is expected to be out to be ascertained in the next couple of weeks.

Dodds says the leg break has been tough for Deas to take mentally as he has never experienced a lengthy period of time out injured.

“Deasy has been speaking to people this week and fingers crossed,” said Dodds.

“It’s a straight forward break and needs a week or two to make sure everything is going as smooth as possible.

“He’s getting his head around it as he is a boy that does not miss a lot of games.

“I don’t think he has had a bad injury before so it is hard for him to take. He is getting his head around it and we hope it will be a straightforward recovery how he gets back from a leg break.”

With Deas and Danny Devine both out of action, with Wallace Duffy still expected to be missing for the game at Morton on Friday, Dodds says he will be relying on the versatile transfer policy he implemented at the beginning of the season.

He says the likes of Zak Delaney and Max Ram are likely to play a major part at the heart of defence.

“We need people who can play in different positions,” says Dodds.

“We signed centre halfs who can play full back, with Danny Devine, Robbie Deas and Wallace Duffy being out.

“I am glad I signed a few centre halves, they have come in handy when I play them in their natural position and full back.

“It is working well with the versatility I have in the squad.”
