SATURDAY’S shinty highlight is the representative fixture at Fort William featuring the cream of the country’s under-21 players.

Scotland under-21 manager Garry Reid explained: "This fixture used to be a cornerstone of the shinty calendar and the players have shown a real appetite to be part of it with more than 70 players turning up for the trial sessions in Inveraray and Inverness.

"The fixture will also be used as the final part of selection for the Scotland under-21 team that will compete against Ireland in Newry, Co Down, on October 25, so the players on show will have the opportunity to bring success for their respective area as well as achieving personal recognition of being selected for their country."
