David MacLean opened the scoring in the 14th minute, and Ross Forbes doubled their lead before half time.

Finlay MacLennan then put clear daylight between the sides within 10 minutes of the restart, meaning that by the time Ross Gordon pulled one back for Skye in the 85th minute the end result had been long since decided.

Lovat also picked up two points as they earned a 2-1 victory away at Kyles Athletic.

Greg Matheson put them ahead in the ninth minute, but rather than race away like Beauly did it took until the 73rd minute for Duncan Davidson to make it 2-0.

Scott MacDonald then scored a consolation for Kyles in added time at the very end.

The battle of the top flight’s two early pace setters was won by Newtonmore, who won 3-1 at Caberfeidh.

Iain Robinson’s first-half double gave ‘More a lead that was quickly cut in half by Caberfeidh’s Craig Morrison, but Craig MacLeod left no doubt with a third for the Badenoch giants early in the second half.

Defending champions Kingussie picked up a slender 1-0 win over Oban Camanachd thank’s to James Falconer’s 12th minute strike – the only goal of the game.

Kinlochshiel scored four, though, at Glasgow Mid-Argyll.

Finlay MacRae, Keith MacRae and Jordan Fisher put Kinlochshiel in a commanding position with just half an hour on the clock, but Cailean MacLeod pulled one back for hosts GMA on the brink of half time.

Fraser’s second of the afternoon would restore their three-goal lead, which lasted until the 80th minute when Ruairidh Ralston pulled another back for GMA.

There were no National Division fixtures as some clubs played their opening round ties in the Camanachd Cup.

It was not good news for the Inverness area sides, though, as Strathglass, Glenurquhart and Inverness all lost – to Kilmallie, Fort William and Lochaber respectively.

The North Division One saw plenty of goals, as Shaun Nicolson scored all six for Glengarry in a 6-5 win at Kingussie.

Lovat picked up a 2-0 win over Glenurquhart, while Newtonmore beat Skye 4-2 and Kinlochshiel eeked past Fort William 1-0.

One tier down, Inverness beat Aberdeen Uni 2-0, but Boleskine lost out 3-2 at Lochcarron.
