Archer and Inverness College student receives full blues award for national and international success

AN archer who has won numerous Scottish titles has been awarded a major honour by the University of the Highlands and Islands and the Highland and Islands Student Association.

Inverness College student Faye McInnes received a full blues award for her achievements in archery at national and international level.

McInnes, a third year BSc (Hons) sport and fitness student started competing in archery field events at the age of six.

As well as representing the university in target shooting, McInnes has won the Scottish Field Archery Championships, The Scottish Indoor Field Archery Championships, The Highland Open and the Scottish Indoor University Championships over the past year.

She has also represented Scotland at the European Field Championships, shooting three personal bests, and finishing eighth overall.

As well as competing in the sport, she’s also a level two field coach and helps coach beginners at Inverness Field Archery Club.

She said: “I would love to raise awareness of archery within the university and get a full team together to go and compete in the University league matches.”
