Dave Carson was delighted with the response his Highland side showed in their 52-7 win over Watsonians last Saturday.

Highland were coming off the back of a defeat to Heriot’s Blues, but upped their game to register the one-sided result back at Canal Park.

There was a lot to like for the Greens’ head coach, but perhaps the most pleasing thing was the intensity of the play.

“It was a fantastic win, and a fantastic way to bounce back after the defeat down at Heriots,” Carson said.

“The guys had been given a bit of a hard time last week about individual performances and the way we played.

“We had a good week at training, we really got the aggression levels up in attack and defence.

“In the first half they just did everything we asked – all the aggression, the running, the tackles, scrum, line-outs, the ruck.

“It was a really aggressive display and they didn’t give the opponents a minute to settle.”
