DEREK Adams expects Ross County's pre-season schedule to help aid his cause when it comes to getting the balance of the side right for the new season.

Already seven new players have arrived at Victoria Park as County manager Adams attempts to build a squad capable of improving upon the disappointments of the previous season.

Adams would still like to take in at least one more new face, but his focus for now is County's upcoming pre-season friendly fixtures, which starts tomorrow with a trip to Highland League side Brora Rangers.

All of his new signings will feature at some stage with Adams keen to integrate them into the first-team as quickly as possible.

With four other friendly matches to play before the season starts on Saturday 23rd July, Adams will use this time to assess all of his options and possible formations in order to get the best possible starting line-up when the campaign officially gets underway in just over three weeks time.

"It's going to take time for the new boys to settle in," he said. "The aim has to be for me to find the right blend for the team.

"However, we've got the whole of pre-season to do that, so there is still sufficient time.

"The first pre-season game for any club is always about fitness and I'll be looking to give the players between 45 and 60 minutes to start with.

"We've been back nearly two weeks now, but it's still early in our preparations. However, the boys have worked hard and they'll continue to do that."

Paul Lawson (ankle) and Darren McCormack (broken leg) are the only absentees through injury for County tomorrow as they prepare to head to Dudgeon Park.

Adams will, however, include youngsters Archie MacPhee and Steven Ross who although still eligible for the club's under-19 squad, are training with the senior side.

"Both will be involved at Brora," he said. "They are two young players who have come through the ranks and this is the next step in their development.

"They both played in the Highland League last season, which they have benefitted from, but they've now got to try and move up to the next level."
