Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock provide the final pre-season test for Ross County tomorrow when the two sides play each other at Rugby Park.

The Dingwall club welcome Elgin City to Victoria Park in the first round of the Ramsdens Cup the following weekend as the new campaign begins.

The match in Ayrshire offers not only Adams one final chance to see his team in competitive action before the season commences. It all gives his players the chance to convince him they are worthy of a place in the starting line-up in just over seven days time.

“There are places there to be had, but I have an idea on who will play against Elgin,” he said. “For a while now, I’ve planned the way we are going to play in this match.

“We’ve been trying different formations throughout pre-season, but I do have it in my own head about who’ll feature and how we’ll approach next Saturday.

“Certainly, the style of play will be along similar lines to what I did in my first spell in charge at the club. We have platers capable of passing the ball and that’s an important factor.

“We want to try and create as much in the final third as possible and score plenty of goals. That’s our intention.”

One of the most disappointing factors of last season for County was the lack of goals, but Adams believes the arrivals of players such as forwards Colin McMenamin, Sam Morrow and Kurtis Byrne can help address that.

“We’ve been getting goals throughout the team in pre-season and that’s been pleasing, but you do want your forward to be scoring regularly,” he said.

“With the signings we’ve made, we now have good options upfront and it means that whoever does play will know they are under pressure to perform.”

Stuart Kettlewell will miss tomorrow’s trip to Kilmarnock with a minor thigh injury as he joins long-term casualties Darren McCormack and Garry Wood on the sidelines.?
