MSP Edward Mountain has spoken out about parking at Raigmore Hospital again.

Readers discuss parking problems at the city hospital, raised by Highlands and Islands Conservative MSP Edward Mountain. Plus schedule changes at radio station MFR.

I totally agree that something needs to be done to ensure the hospital car park is only used by people who genuinely need it.

On the last three occasions I have had appointments it has taken around 20 minutes to park which adds to the stress of having to get to the department you need to be in by a certain time in the hospital and I am very fit and able to move quickly, so for any patients who are not so good on their feet this must only add to their stress, the car park also needs redesigned and all the space made proper use of.

A car park attendant would be helpful and also reassuring for those who are less confident about parking, even if it was on a volunteer system.

If the volunteers also knew the hospital layout they could direct people which doors to go to also.

Let’s get what is a stressful situation for a lot of people turned into a pleasant one.

This timely article is seen by many regular readers to be a promotional tool related to the imminent local elections. If this MSP [Edward Mountain] was serious about following up and doing due diligence in getting this resolved, it would not take four years.

Does anyone agree with me that a multi-storey car park would be the best solution to the horrendous ongoing problem of parking at Raigmore Hospital?

If you weren’t suffering from stress when you arrived you would be by the time you got parked!

Knowing the financial state of the NHS, a ‘Friends of Raigmore Parking Group’ could be set up allowing them to rent the land and ask for crowdfunding and possibly lottery funding to finance the building costs.

Thereafter a charge of £1 per day to park would go to ongoing maintenance. The Highlands have always been known for innovative people and I know there are some of them reading this who could carry this off so how about it?

Seriously not happy that Dan and Grace will no longer be doing the breakfast show. They are a breath of fresh air in the morning. I think MFR have made a mistake!

Sheila Duguid, Inverness

So sorry to hear Dan and Grace are leaving the airwaves as a duo! Feel like I am losing my morning chums.

Susan Speke, Conon Bridge
