Readers reflect on stories that have made the Inverness headlines.

Objections to new Inverness 10-pin bowling alley plan

This is a misuse of the objection system. Respond on the merits or lack thereof of the proposed changes, not what happens if the existing businesses move.

Write to those business owners and ask them not to close. Rejecting a new bowling lane won’t stop them closing down and moving out, then we’ll end up with an empty, derelict building. And as wonderful as Rollerbowl is, you can’t object to a new bowling lane being allowed just because an older business already exists.

We live in a democratic, capitalist society. Competition helps lower prices and increase standards. If Rollerbowl wants to continue another 30 years, they just have to offer something fresh and fun to keep families returning.

Everlast is a part of our Highland community.

I know a few people from Dingwall drive all the way to Everlast in Inverness and some people from Forres and Nairn as well travel to Everlast, Inverness for swimming because of ease of access and the jacuzzi and steam room.

It has brilliant facilities and an amazing management and team.

We can’t just forgive and forget Belladrum traffic woes

All is not forgiven by many. We used to live on the Black Isle which is why we have always believed Bella to be the best festival.

However, 2023 was when the wheels came off. Was all the money spent on the headliners so there was nothing left to pay for other line-up acts?

Even less vendors in foodie forest than last year. Club Clan Bella was an afterthought. No consideration for those not able-bodied.

Thursday was a seven-hour disaster of not being with each other due to some stuck in traffic, others having put tents up and others having walked because traffic just wasn’t moving.

People were running out of bands at gates multiple times. Even the few marshals that are there every year were saying it was a disaster this year – the food put on for them was inedible as well. Serious overhaul required.

We’re still waiting too

Why is Fort William traffic chaos never highlighted. We were promised a bypass in the ‘80s. It can take 40 minutes to go three-and-a-half miles in the summer with queues over three miles long at times.
