You could be the proud owner of one of Highland Hospice’s Great Heilan Coos.

Throughout the summer they have been on display across the Highlands where they formed an art trail.

The charity is now bringing to an end its art event – ‘The Great Heilan Coo Trail’ – and is offering people the chance to own a coo sculpture of their very own.

Sponsored by Caley Timber and Building Supplies Ltd the trail consisted of 22 beautifully decorated Heilan coos, scattered across the Highlands in various locations.

Locals and tourists alike have been flocking to the sculptures to see as many as possible.

Each coo was uniquely designed and painted by a local artist and sponsored by a local company and they were created by sculptor Scott Gleed of Gleed3D.

Now, with the trail reaching its end, the coos are being gathered before being auctioned at a special event at Eden Court’s Under Canvas setting on Friday, September 2.

Individuals and businesses are invited to attend the special event, and bid on the coos as they go under the hammer and all auction proceeds will go to support Highland Hospice – providing comfort and support to patients, their families and communities when they need it the most.

Fundraiser Jenna Hayden said, “We would urge as many people as possible to join us in person on Friday, September 2, for refreshments, canapes and live entertainment. This will be a fun night and you could leave with a beautiful coo sculpture of your own.”

For anyone who can’t make it in person, online bidding will be available from Friday, August 19, and will run until – and during – the event, via Dingwall Mart’s online catalogue at bit.ly/thegreatheilancooauction

Jennifer Morrison, from main sponsor Caley Timber & Building Supplies Ltd, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to act as The Great Heilan Coo Trail main sponsor.

“The sculptures are spectacular, and seeing the joy on people’s faces as they go coo spotting has been just incredible.”

Artist Becky Lister-Kaye who painted the stunning Bos taurus at Harry Gow in North Kessock, added: “I am so privileged to have had my coo design featured in this beautiful art trail. The feedback on all the designs has been so positive, and I’ve loved seeing the joy that visiting my particular coo has given to the public over the past few months. Now I am excited to see where Bos Taurus will find his forever home.”

Twenty-one coos will be up for auction on September 2, as Caley Coo (painted by Hospice service user Sheree Gregg) is a raffle prize, to be drawn before the event.

Before the auction a family fun weekend will be held at Bellfield Park in Inverness. Ta Ta For Noo Coos will be held on Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, offering the chance to see all the coos lined up together, with a host of activities and face painting on offer.
