After a busy week in the office, inner peace was restored with Nadia Gilani at the Highland Yoga Collective.

On Friday, May 26 Nadia journeyed to Nairn as part of her ongoing book launch and yoga teaching tour of the UK. Nadia is both yoga teacher and writer, amalgamating the two fields in her new book 'The Yoga Manifesto'.

Nadia first led a yoga class named 'Yang to Ying' which involved a dynamic practice of chaturanga, cat-cow and chair poses, followed by a restful meditative practice towards the end of the session. The class welcomed everyone –whether novice or veteran yogis, and such a welcome was extended as the class were invited to chat on her book over tea and cake served at the Highland Weigh café afterwards.

Nadia spoke of her experiences as a young news reporter in London, and connected the dots as to how this shaped her outlook later on in her career, now as a freelance writer. She found yoga to be a prominent recurrence in her life, and as something that she has extensive wisdom and passion about, which is evident in her book. The book is a bid to emulate the inclusiveness and empowerment felt within her yoga sessions, while also challenging the stigma that yoga is only for free-spirited cool girls – although Nadia actually is all of the above!
