HIGHLAND yoga enthusiasts were treated to a day of classes to raise funds for people affected by the conflict in Ukraine.

Taking place at Inverness Leisure as part of the Highland Weekend of Action for Ukraine, the Yoga Stands for Peace event was part of a Scotland-wide movement which has so far raised £9131 in total towards the Disasters Emergency Committee funds for Ukraine Refugees.

With more than 40 people taking part over the four sessions planned for the afternoon, the event proved very successful.

Sandra Cook, who started the movement, was among the yoga teachers leading the sessions on the day.

She said: “The Inverness event was a fabulous advertisement for the benefits and connections on offer through yoga practice. We were delighted with the turnout and the enthusiasm and generosity of the students who came. The combined total for all the yoga events held so far is a

staggering £9131 and donations keep coming, with more events on the way.

"Heartfelt thanks to Steve Walsh and the staff at Inverness Leisure for their support in hosting this enjoyable charitable event. Thank you to everyone involved”.

Local yoga teacher, Christie Woods, was also very pleased about the outcome: "It was so good, it was so well attended, it was really lovely. We had about 20 people at each class, but

"I really loved the vibe and people just gave really good feedback. It was really good to have Sandra here as well.

Inverness teachers Hazel Marr and Nicki Walsh were also there on the day.
