Yellow warnings for snow to continue until at least Tuesday evening
YELLOW Met Office weather warnings for snow are expected to remain in force until at least Tuesday evening.
Forecasters are warning that, after marginally milder temperatures yesterday, a "very cold" air mass will push south across the country later today.
"Frequent showers are likely to form in this air mass, and with the cold air snow is likely to accumulate, even to low levels in places," said a Met Office spokesman. "Periods of enhanced snowfall are possible within this general flow, perhaps more especially across the high ground of Scotland, but these details are more uncertain.
"There is the potential for disruption throughout this period due to the accumulating snow and ice but also with temporary blizzard conditions leading to very difficult driving conditions."
They warned that strong winds could also lead to blizzard conditions in places.
