WOMEN who've experienced violence are being encouraged to share their stories at an Inverness event in order to help shape future policies.

Engender will be hosting 'Vital Voices Gather' in the Spectrum Centre in Inverness on Tuesday.

And they want to hear from you in order to help ensure public policy can work better for women and help to prevent violence against women and girls before it takes place.

They are keen to hear what people feel would make them feel safer within the community, and what policy makers should consider.

They would also like to know how the way you navigate and live your life in the community would change if there were no violence against women.

"We want to hear from women with lived experience of this violence, to explore how all areas of public policy can work better for women and be used to prevent violence against women and girls (VAWG) before it occurs," said a spokesperson.

"Join us in Inverness to explore the impact of planning and transport policies on gender inequality and VAWG in your area."

"Your vital input will feed into the Delivering Equally Safe project, informing recommendations made to the Scottish Government. You do not need to be a policy expert to attend; this is an open opportunity to be heard and advocate for women within Scotland and your community."

They added that the event, within the Spectrum Centre's studio from 10.15am to 1.30pm, will be limited to 20 participants and will be an "inclusive, safe space".

The event is free and those attending will receive a £30 voucher of their choice. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Organisers say that there will be an optional influencing and campaigning workshop in the afternoon. This is aimed at those who wish to learn more about advocating for social change.
