A series of Bible study sessions is due to run this month.

The Women of the Bible seminars will be delivered by Professor Bill McBryde and have been organised by Ness Bank Church in Inverness.

They will be held every Tuesday, from February 7 until February 28, from 7.15pm at the church.

A spokesman said: “There are about 190 named women in the Bible, and around 144 nameless women.

“It is a fair guess that few could identify all 334 in total, let alone describe their roles.

“Do you know who was the mother of Moses? Which woman gave orders to a general in battle?”

During the four seminars Prof McBryde will discuss a varied group of 12 of the women and look at how many of them departed from the culture of their times.

The spokesman added: “We will look at the lessons which we can derive for our own lives.”
