A supermarket member of staff was spat on by a 21-year-old Inverness woman who was being aggressive in the store.

But Inverness Sheriff Court was told that Paige Peden, of Friars Street, ignored a police instruction not to go back to the Co-op, in Church Street, and returned the following day to be abusive to the staff again.

The incidents occurred on September 12 and 13, 2022 and Peden admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and the assault.

Sheriff Nigel Cooke was told by defence solicitor Marc Dickson that his client was getting her life back in order and had been responding well to social work intervention imposed on other matters.

The court will receive an up-to-date report on Peden's progress on June 13 and sentence on her was again deferred until that date when all her cases will be called.
