A 37-year-old man who assaulted his partner will be sentenced next month.

Kevin Cummings, of Torvean Avenue, Inverness, appeared at the city’s sheriff court and admitted punching the woman once to the body in their home on November 17 last year.

Defence solicitor advocate Neil Wilson asked Sheriff Margaret Neilson to defer sentence for a background report as his client had been out of trouble with the law for three years.

Before hearing the full facts, Sheriff Neilson ordered the report plus an assessment for a domestic abuser programme.

Cummings will be sentenced on March 24.
