Woman killed in road accident on A96 near Nairn is named by police

THE woman who died in a car accident in the Highlands at the weekend has been named by police.

The tragedy happened following a fatal road traffic crash on the A96 east of Nairn.

The 41-year-old woman has been named as Kelly Smith, from Forres.

Her family have asked for privac.

The incident happened around 7pm on Sunday and involved a blue Citroen DS3 car.

Sergeant David Miller, from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Kelly’s family and friends at this terrible time as they come to terms with their tragic loss.

“We continue to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage, to please contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2947 of July 11.”
