Inverness Sheriff Court heard a woman bought cigarettes using a credit card that was not hers.

The court was told she had asked police if she could go into a newsagent to buy the cigarettes.

Defence agent Willie Young said Mollie Robinson fraudulently used a Nationwide credit card to pay for the goods.

Appearing from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court, Robinson (25) of Eildon Guest House, Inverness, was facing a community payback order review for other offences including shoplifting, assault and failure to appear for a court hearing on May 7.

She admitted further charges that she obtained goods (cigarettes) to the value of £23.65 by fraud from Station News in Margaret Street, breaching a bail order and stealing items of clothing from TK Maxx, Inverness, on August 19.

Depute fiscal Susan Love said Robinson, who admitted a long record of previous convictions, went into TK Maxx and took two items of men’s clothing worth £60 and walked out.

She breached bail on September 3 by turning up at her ex-partner’s home in Anderson Street, Inverness, and was seen banging on the door and shouting at him when she had previously been ordered not to contact him.

Mr Young said Robinson found herself in a difficult position because she was already on community payback orders and was now facing further offences.

Of the thefts, he said her lifestyle was chaotic and she stole the clothing to secure funds to buy food for herself. The items were recovered.

He said the offence at the newsagent’s was unusual because she was given the opportunity by police arresting her to purchase cigarettes and paid for the goods using a credit card which didn’t belong to her.

Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald continued the community payback review until January 10.

She said she had already spent time on remand and admonished her for the breach of bail.
