The shoplifter stole £17 worth of Easter eggs from a shop in an Inverness retail park to give to her children.
Then, a few weeks later, 25-year-old Alana Syrjanen went to the Tesco store in Dingwall and stole a vacuum cleaner because she needed one for her home in Corry Road, Muir of Ord.
Sentence had been deferred on Syrjanen last month to allow for the preparation of a background report.
Sheriff Margaret Neilson also showed her mercy and released her on bail at that point after hearing that her partner was in poor health at the time.
Syrjanen had previously admitted stealing the confectionery from a shop in the Rose Street Retail Park on March 22.
The vaccuum cleaner was stolen on May 8.
It was valued at £189.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that, on being arrested, Syrjanen told police: "I was stupid to do it."
She was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid community work and was also placed under social work supervision for a period of one year.
