Winners of Highland Heroes announced in Inverness

Winners of the annual Highland Heroes have been announced today in Inverness.
A special celebration, organised by Highland News and Media, at the Drumossie Hotel brought together unsung heroes from across the region.
Some 400 people saw community champion David MacRae, of Inverness, crowned hero of heroes. He has inspired a team to provide gift bags for children, pensioners, people with disabilities, people who are homeless, the food banks and Raigmore Hospital.
An emotional evening of tears, laughter, entertainment, fabulous food and drink, and great camaraderie saw more than a dozen other awards handed out.
All the award winners were:
- Brave child: Vilis Forstmanis. Runners-up: Stephen Hooper, Keiran Macneil, Sinclair Dalgetty, Allie Sumner.
- Primary pupil: Mason Campbell. Runners-up: Lara Hillan & Maisie Hawkes, Quinn Young.
- Primary teacher: Jane MacKintosh. Runners-up: Lyndsay Simpson, Ellis McDaid.
- Secondary pupil: Jack Ross. Runners-up: Grace McConachie, Archie Webster.
- Secondary teacher: Catherine Ferguson. Runners-up: Hannah Lucas, Amanda Moseley.
- School: Merkinch Primary. Runners-up: Balnain Primary, Kirkhill Primary.
- Volunteer: Michael O'Neill. Runners-up: Rod Shannon, John Walmsley.
- Healthcare: Dr David Goudie. Runner-up: Alison Finlay.
- Emergency services/armed forces: Kyle RNLI. Runners-up: PC Paul Phillips, Dave Thompson, Michael O'Neill.
- Charitable organisation: HALO. Runners-up: Caithness KLICS, James Support Group, New Start Highland.
- Fundraiser: Daisy McKenzie. Runners-up: Heather & Kevin Bannerman, Kelly Macrae.
- Community champion: David MacRae. Runners-up: Ian Ash, Kats Macleod.
- Green hero: Emily Williams. Runners-up: George Livingstone, Catrina Attwood.
- Carer: Kelly Macrae & Savannah Kelly. Runners-up: Aoife Lyall, Melanie Oliver-McCormick.
- Hero of heroes: David MacRae.
