Wheels of Nairn hailed a huge success
A vehicle show – which made its second appearance today – has been hailed a huge success.
More than 200 vehicles attended Wheels of Nairn.
Thousands of people descended on the Links to enjoy the spectacle which also included more than 30 stallholders, food vendors, teacup rides, a face painter and live music from Nairn Academy drumming group The Penguin’s Tuxedo.
Lucy Harding, manager of event organiser Nairn BID, said: “We have had an amazing day here at the second Wheels of Nairn. It was great to be able to bring it back to our seaside town. Despite a small amount of rain early in the morning, the sun came out and we have had a very successful day. It’s been wonderful seeing such a huge variety of cars, and the exhibitors seem to have enjoyed our beautiful town and the location of the Links with the beach as a backdrop.
“We need to say a huge thank you to the exhibitors and a huge well done to Charlie Campbell who is our overall winner. These events are all about driving footfall to Nairn and we think that we have been able to do this today.
“I would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of our sponsors and judges and also Nairn Rotary Club and other volunteers from the town who kept the event ticking along. These events cannot go ahead without this kind of support."
The event was sponsored by Nairn Car Sales which launched in July and is run by father and son team Hamish and Dean Clark.
Dean said: “It has been a superb day and we have thoroughly enjoyed being involved. We had a great time walking around and viewing all the vehicles. It is great to see such a variety, right through the years, and it was a pleasure talking to so many people who are passionate about cars.
“Nairn Car Sales has been delighted to be involved in this event once again and we will definitely be looking to next year to lend our support.”
Charlie, who won with his 1998 Jaguar XJ308, said: “It’s been a brilliant day, the number of cars overall is testament that this has been a wonderful event. I am delighted that I won, but it certainly wasn’t expected, as there are some stunning cars here. The whole day has been a huge success.”
Other sponsors included Makes By Megs, who looked after the exhibitors with complimentary drinks and cakes, Brodie Kennels and Lifestyle Magazine who took silver sponsorship packages.
