The Black Isle Leisure Centre is staging an open day on Saturday to show off its new equipment and allow locals the chance to try out classes and find out what else is available.

PEOPLE living on the Black Isle and surrounding area are being invited to check out the facilities at their revamped leisure centre this weekend.

The Black Isle Leisure Centre will throw open its doors on Saturday (May 20) between 9am and 3.30pm.

High Life Highland’s leisure manager, Ian Goode, said: “As part of an ongoing programme to upgrade gyms across the High Life Highland network, the Black Isle Leisure Centre benefited from a significant upgrade to facilities.

“As well as the new gym, people using the Black Isle Leisure Centre enjoy access to adult group fitness classes, children’s activities in term time with an extensive holiday activity programme and our main hall is available for indoor sports such as 5-a-side football or badminton."

He said the open day will give people an opportunity to try out a wide range of equipment, classes and facilities. It is open to non-members, as well as people who have already joined the highlife programme. Online booking is recommended for all of the open day activities, although walk-ins may be offered where where space is available.

“I know first-hand how welcoming the staff are at Black Isle Leisure Centre and how they make the equipment simple to use and accessible, so I would encourage everyone to take a trip to the local centre this weekend and give it a go.”

Steve Walsh, High Life Highland’s chief executive said: “Ensuring that affordable access to leisure and gym facilities is available to communities throughout the Highlands is key for High Life Highland. We aim to support the wellbeing of our communities, particularly during this time of increasing pressures on all of our finances.
