The Highland–based home care service with 4.7 stars on Google prides themself on taking good care of their staff, and always delivering high–quality care for their clients. Fraser Elite works to provide a lengthy stay and more of a companionship service for their clients, over an hours’ service and trips out.
Owner and Director of Fraser Elite, Julie Fraser said: "Delivering good quality care is always our aim, and doing it in a person–centred way by giving people the time that they need and deserve.
“If you don’t value and look after your staff well, you’re not going to be able to look after your clients well.”
Fraser Elite are currently recruiting for new carers to join their team, full–time or part–time, with no prior experience or qualifications required.
Julie said: "We provide our workforce with all the qualifications they need; the basic qualification is an SVQ 2 in Health and Social care, and we also encourage people to move on and do their SVQ 3 and 4.
As well as providing the fundamental SVQ qualifications, Fraser Elite also offers over 26 essential courses including: Defibrillator Training, Mental Health First Aid, Professional Development Award in Medication, Epilepsy and Buccal Midazolam training, and more.
Co–owner of Fraser Elite, Ron Fraser said: "It can be just three or four months to get your SVQ 2 if you work really hard for it, but for most people it takes about six to eight months. All of our team leaders have been promoted from within, they joined as carers and worked their way up – all of our management team earned their SVQs while working here."
Soon after joining, newbies are sent out to shadow the more experienced carers during shifts, and once they are trained and confident enough, they continue on their own with the support of ongoing mentoring from Fraser Home Care. "It's a continuous improvement loop," Ron said.
Explaining why Fraser Elite and Fraser Home Care were first established, Julie said: "After taking care of relatives, we became aware that there was a need for care at home.
“We first established Fraser Home Care eight years ago, to deliver NHS contracts for people who have been assessed as needing home care. Then after realising there was also a need for private care, we established Fraser Elite, for all the people who haven't been assessed as needing care – but families could still see that they needed some help.”
Marcia Sezifredo, who is SVQ level 3 qualified in Social Services and Healthcare at Fraser Elite said: “I worked for 16 years at Harry Gows, and coming to Fraser Elite was the best move. It’s a pleasure to be here, I always tell everyone to treat all the clients like your granny and grandad because if you do, that is already a step in the right direction. I’m so lucky because I have really really good colleagues here – I can’t complain."
Ron Fraser said: "We're like a family basically, everybody communicates very well. We make sure that there is very good communication throughout the organisation so people have the confidence to come to their bosses with any problems they have.
Diane Maxwell said: “I’ve worked in health and social care since I was 17, and this is definitely the best move I have made.”
Alongside the lively and supportive team, Fraser Elite also offers job perks such as: employers pension contribution, 28 days paid annual leave, and colleague discounts for leisure, holiday and retail.
