Scottish Water has warned of possible interruption to supplies while it works to fix a fault on the network.

Essential engineering works could temporarily impact water supplies in parts of Inverness, Scottish Water has warned as it tries to prevent a repeat of outages earlier this week.

Scottish Water said it will be carrying out "essential maintenance" on the network in the city following issues with supplies for some people in IV2 and IV3 postcodes earlier in the week.

And it has warned people that they may experience intermittent water supplies on Thursday while the repairs are carried out.

"This work is being carried out to mitigate further issues with these valves," said a Scottish Water spokesman. "Please be assured that this work will be closely monitored and if there is any adverse impact on our customers, we will restore water supplies via the temporary network re-zoning that is currently in place.

"You may experience some short duration, intermittent water supply, until the work is complete. We expect all work to be concluded before 5pm today (Thursday).

"We recognise that these are the same customers that have been affected on a number of occasions in recent months, and the ongoing frustration and inconvenience that this is causing. We will do our best to mitigate any disruption where possible.
