Water supplies to the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness have been restored.

According to Scottish Water the loss of supply had affected the IV2 postcode and engineers were sent to the scene earlier today to deal with the emergency.

One of the areas affected was the city centre shopping mall with all businesses affected.

Centre manager Jackie Cuddy said the supply had been restored by 12.30pm, adding: "We had no water whatsoever."

She said she understood it had also affected Morrisons, as well as Victoria Drive, however Marks and Spencer was not affected.

It is understood the cause was a water main in Millburn Road however it is not know how many businesses and residential properties were affected.

While the network fault was being repaired Scottish Water was warning customers that they could experience "no water supply, low or intermittent pressure or discoloured water".

Anyone who has experienced flooding due to the incident, and is in need of support, is advised to contact Scottish Water on 0800 0778 778.
