Water levels in River Ness too high for Ness Islands rubbish to be removed

That is according to a local authority spokeswoman, after the Courier revealed earlier this month that a shopping trolley, seven traffic cones and a wooden crate were just some of the items of rubbish found spoiling the city beauty spot.
The discarded items in the burn that runs along the Great Glen Way had somehow found their way into the channel at various points along a 300m stretch.
The spokeswoman said an inspection of the area would be made as soon as possible to see what items could be recovered from the burn.
“The water levels on the River Ness and affected burn are still high so any clean-up and necessary access will not take place until it is safe for our staff,” she said.
“The council, as does any employer, have a duty to its employees for their health and safety.”
