High Life Highland has shared a sneak peek into construction works to give a historic Highland capital venue a new lease of life.

Works to refurbish Northern Meeting Park started in January and are expected to last until December this year.

A new video published by High Life Highland – who manage the popular location – provides an insight into the works, which include a redevelopment of the Victorian grandstand, the creation of a new pavilion in the place of the existing tea room and the addition of grasscrete next to the new pavilion.

Jason Kelman, principal project manager for Highland Council, said works are progressing well.

"What we are really looking to do is open up the area for further uses," he explained.

"At the moment, the Northern Meeting Park area is closed the majority of the time. With this investment we are looking to open up the park and use a lot more for the people of Inverness and the general public."

The work is being carried out by Morrison Construction on behalf of Highland Council and supported with money from the UK government’s Levelling Up Fund.

This is part of a £20 million funding package which includes three projects: Northern Meeting Park, the Bught Park development and a part of the wider Inverness Castle refurbishment programme.
