The UK will not be able to meet its net zero targets without a Highland green freeport. That is what Steve Chisholm of Global Energy Group told Nicky Marr in an exclusive interview last week.
In an effort to help people understand just how significant a freeport would be, Highland News and Media got the main players together to let them tell the public in their own words just what it would mean.
Joining Mr Chisholm was Joanne Allday of the Port of Cromarty Firth, and Derek Louden, chair of Highland Council’s Corporate Resources Committee.
They told us that the capacity of a sheltered deep water port means more offshore fields can be serviced from the firth than anywhere else – and that is worth billions of pounds.
