Veganuary is an annual challenge run by a UK non-profit organisation that promotes and educates people about veganism by encouraging people to follow a vegan lifestyle for the month of January.

Since the event began in 2014 participation has increased each year, with as many as 400,000 people signed up to the 2020 campaign.

We took to the streets of Inverness to ask the public if they will be taking part in the annual challenge.

The majority of people we spoke to said they "loved meat and dairy too much to participate", though some were keen to step out of their comfort zone and give it a go.

One person said: "There is so much that I don't think I could give up, but if I were to be perfectly honest I think that it would be better for people to be vegan."

Another person added: "I will not be participating in Veganuary this year after I tried veganism a while ago, but it's not for me this January I don't think."

A lot of people were still in the festive spirit and taking advantage of the seasonal food that Inverness has to offer, while others were completely against the idea because they simply "love meat too much to give it up".
