Strictly Come Dancing star, Giovanni, visited the Highland Hospice at the weekend in aid of international nurses day.

Giovanni Pernice supported Strictly Inverness – one of the top events in the Highland Capital’s calendar – as a judge for the grand finale on Saturday, May 11.

The massively popular event raised more than £300,000 for the organising charities – the Highland Hospice and the Inverness Ice Centre.

On Saturday afternoon Giovanni visited the hospice to spread some love and thank the nurses personally for all the ‘fantastic’ work they do.

He said: “I am here today for international nurses day and I am surrounded by beautiful nurses.

“This is a message to everyone involved, and everyone around the country that does this fantastic job, I just wanted to say thank you to all of you and to everybody out there, I love all of you.”

The hospice were thrilled that Giovanni made an appearance and raised awareness for its cause.

Communications manager from the Highland Hospice, Wendy Morgan said: “We were absolutely delighted that our nurses could meet Giovanni.

“He popped into the Hospice to meet those who were on duty on Saturday afternoon, and spent time with more of the team (and our cook Marion) at Strictly Inverness in the evening.

“International nurses day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate all of the Hospice’s nurses. We are incredibly lucky to have such a fabulous and truly caring team running our inpatient unit, delivering amazing care to our patients and their families on a daily basis – and sometimes in difficult or emotional circumstances.

“Thank you to all of our nurses, you really are the best.”
