A SPEEDO-wearing fundraising legend is now turning heads in Tain after reaching the royal burgh in rainy conditions.

The Everton-supporting fundraiser dubbed Speedo Mick is on a walk from John O'Groats to Land's End – wearing his trademark blue swimming trunks.

Michael Cullen (57) is braving freezing conditions as he again attempts to trek 1000 miles. He has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities close to his heart.

Before setting out, he said: "He said: “On this next challenge, I will be will be fundraising for something that is very close to my heart; mental health and suicide prevention.

“I have suffered from mental health most of my adult life and still do suffer from it to this day. The donations from this walk will be going to our very first Speedomick foundation. It will be a dream come true for me to be able to give back to my community and support people who are suffering from mental health."

Tonight he posted an update: "I've made it to Tain", he told followers on a blustery video update. "It's a really freezing cold day in Scotland and it's ended up even worse than this morning," he said as darkness descended over the town.

He thanked everybody who has donated today.

His Go Fund Me page can be found here.

His itinerary includes North Kessock although is subject to change.

He thanked everyone from their messages "and encouragement especially".

Amongst scores of comments hailing his fortitude and urging him to get inside to warm up is a message from Debbie White of Liverpool who says: "Get yourself over to Harry Gow's in the morning before you set off Mick, Can't go wrong with a chicken curry pie. Keep stomping, you're doing an amazing job."
