More than 100 people helped to raise cash to help the people of Ukraine in Inverness city centre.

Lauders, in Church Street, held a Ukrainian weekend and showed a number of football matches, featured guest DJs and a prize balloon drop at midnight on Saturday – which was known as Ukrainian Day.

It ran from Friday until yesterday and organisers are set to start counting what was collected tomorrow.

Deputy manager Gary Cole said it was a slow start but picked up later in the day. He added: "It was really nice weather and we don't have a beer garden. As soon as the sun went down it picked up a bit more."

He estimated that at its peak there were around 120 people there – the pub's capacity is 160 – and said the guest DJ had brought quite a few with him. "I would say it went well. There was a good atmosphere and they said it was brilliant and they really enjoyed it."
