Enjoy yourselves but stay safe is the key message to Inverness Christmas revellers heading into the city centre this festive season.

It comes as a multi-agency operation is launched once again in the Highland capital to keep party-goers, locals and visitors alike protected while on a night out.

Operation Respect brings together the police, the fire and rescue service, medics, and council as well as care and pastoral services under one umbrella.

This year's initiative was launched yesterday (Monday) on the banks of the River Ness as the multiple agencies pulled together under the banner of community safety.

Over the up-coming weeks many thousands of people are expected to head out for Christmas parties with the increased risks that alcohol, substance abuse and general overindulgence can bring.

The operation is being headed up by Inverness police area command but it will be a co-operative effort to make sure everyone is free from danger.
