Members and guests of the British Legion gathered together to watch the Queen’s funeral today.

Starting with a service of remembrance at 10.15am, veterans paid their respects and said their prayers for late Her Majesty.

This was then followed by a screening of the funeral, with around 60 guests turning up.

Chairman of the Inverness British Legion, Peter Hunter was at the event and shared his memories of the longest reigning British monarch.

“When we were in Berlin for her birthday party, we had a parade’, he recalled.

“The Queen smiled the whole way, it was brilliant. We called her the boss.”

Mr Hunter was at school when the Queen was crowned, which he fondly remembers.

He said: “When she was crowned we all got a mug, an orange and an apple. It's a good memory.”

Margaret Mitchell who helps at the British Legion, and who was previously on the committee was also in attendance.

She said: “It's a very sad day losing our Queen, who was very respected and did a lot for our country.

Of the new King, she said: “I hope he does as well as his mother did.”
