News of very early stage plans are in the offing for the demolition and replacement of a major multi-storey car park in the heart of Inverness have prompted a flurry of unhappy Invernessians.

One person said: "It's going to create absolute havoc, who's idea was that?

"Surely it can just be repaired, or just upgraded without demolishing it. I mean, do they know where all the other cars are going to go and the traffic it is going to cause.

"There needs to be car park spaces already prepared for this to happen. Obviously the people that are in charge of the town know what they're doing...allegedly, but I guess it's the same with all of those in power."

Even those that don't have the facility to drive think that it's 'a waste of time if the building is already fit for purpose.'

Another person said: "It's obviously going to cost a lot of money, plus what is wrong with the one just now? It currently serves it's purpose, so I would just leave it the way it is."

Others have praised the car park for being 'great' throughout the course of many years and have said it will be sorely missed.
