Oscar-winning actor and celebrity Russell Crowe has been officially invited to Inverness by the Provost after he expressed his interest in visiting the Highland Capital for a gig.

The actor, producer and music man posed the question on X – formerly Twitter – yesterday with a nod to his clan "relatives" the Frasers of Lovat whose homeland is near Beauly just north of Inverness.

Now, Highland Council has shared a video in which Inverness Provost Glynis Campbell Sinclair invited Mr Crowe to attend this year's Highland Games.

In the video she said: "Hi Russell, we'd be delighted to host your gig at the Inverness Highland Games, which is going to be held on the 13th of July 2024.

"I am sure that the Lovat Frasers will join us again in the clan tent, so there is a chance that you can meet your relatives."

"If your diary allows, we hope you'll make it."
